Secret #1

It is not necessary to know the answers to each and every question asked in the CPT exam paper. So, attempt the easy questions first on which you have a surety and after all easy questions are attempted go for the difficult ones. There are 100 questions in two sessions (50 questions in each session) and the time duration is 2 hours which compels you to manage time accordingly or else you will not be able to attempt most of the questions. Therefore, wasting time on an unsure question is not an intelligent move.

Secret #2

Beware of the negative marking applicable and do not take a risk by guessing the answers. In case you have some basic knowledge of the question asked then you can take the risk in some questions but repeating this action for all questions is not advisable.

Secret #3

Quantitative Aptitude must be prepared well because it can pull up your marks in the score-sheet. Try to master mathematics because this subject can gift you full marks (50 out of 50) if all answers are correct. Practice is the key to becoming an expert on this subject.

Secret #4

Try to learn Mercantile Law with simple examples. It is easy to remember something when attached to an example but if the example is complicated everything goes in vain. I can understand that Mercantile Law is a boring subject to study but what to do.

6 Study-Hacks to Crack CA CPT Examination - KonceptCa

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India conducts professional examination for Chartered Accountants twice a year in the months of June and December. The first level of this professional examination is called CPT or Common Proficiency Test. Aspirants who wish to crack this examination and proceed further on the path of becoming a Chartered Accountant prepare hard to crack it. In my opinion preparing for an examination is more about planning and executing in the right direction rather than just mugging up and vomiting it in the examination room. So, here are some useful tips to crack CPT exam for all those hard working and stressed out students out there. Relax! Take a deep breath and read them-

1. Jot down a plan for studying

If you are a failure in planning then you are planning for failure. To achieve anything you need to have a proper strategy. Assign time slots for specific work like working on a paper, completing assigned reading or preparing for a test. You will land down in a complete mess if you do not organize yourself.

2. Do not study too much

'Excess of anything is bad' rightly summarizes the outcome if you study too much under the pressure of performing well in the CPT examination. Too much of studying will take the fun out and you will feel tired. Try taking short breaks in between to restore your concentration and start studying with a new zeal.

3. Try to follow a routine

Irregular routine is dangerous when you need to work really hard for something. Try to study at the same time every day and follow a routine so that studying becomes a part of your regular schedule.

4. Start with the most difficult assignment

Starting with the most difficult assignment helps you in dealing with your problems. At the initial phase, you are at the peak of your mental energy which pushes you to make an effort and perform extraordinarily.

5. Set short goals

Simply studying can be monotonous and can fill you with boredom. Setting up short-term goals will help you in achieving targets. For example, set up a goal of completing Mercantile Law in a week and after finishing that work on the next topic. This will keep you motivated and will rejuvenate you to start the next topic with enthusiasm.

6. Evaluate yourself by solving mock test

Solving mock test papers are of great help while preparing for the first level of CA exam. There are many websites that offer multiple choice questions based mock tests which you can try so as to evaluate where you stand in terms of preparation.

Remember to believe in yourself and excel in whatever you do. All the best!
